Job Overview
VIDYA School, Bangalore, is looking for a motivated and organized Maker/STEAM Educator with over 2 years of experience to lead hands-on educational programs at VIDYA centers and associated schools in Bangalore. The role involves managing maker spaces, facilitating interactive workshops, and coordinating classroom activities to foster experiential learning. The ideal candidate should possess strong technical skills in maker education, enthusiasm for hands-on learning, and experience in program management and classroom facilitation.
The position will be based in Bangalore (1 position in East Bangalore and 1 in South Bangalore) and will involve regular interactions with teachers, students, and community members, both online and offline
CTC: INR 3 to 4 L (based on experience and quality of work)
Responsibilities and Duties
1. Makerspace Management
Manage the daily operations of makerspaces at VIDYA centers and associated schools, ensuring they are safe, engaging, and conducive to learning.
Maintain tools, equipment, and material inventory, and ensure timely procurement of supplies for ongoing projects and workshops.
Train students and educators in the proper use of equipment while maintaining safety protocols at all times.
2. Workshops & Training Facilitation
Lead hands-on workshops on design thinking, rapid prototyping, electronics, and innovation for students and educators.
Facilitate maker sessions, integrating creative problem-solving and experiential learning.
Support training programs for facilitators and staff, emphasizing hands-on skills, prototyping, and safe use of makerspace equipment.
3. Conducting Classes in schools
Travel to government schools to conduct regular classes, integrating maker activities into the school curriculum.
Collaborate with teachers, facilitators, and school administrators to ensure smooth delivery of hands-on learning programs.
Monitor and evaluate the progress and effectiveness of maker education initiatives, collecting data through observations, surveys, and feedback for continuous improvement.
4. Partnership & Collaboration
Build and maintain partnerships with VIDYA staff, community members, and educational institutions to expand the reach and impact of the maker education program.
Work closely with the MakerGhat program design team to introduce innovative teaching methods and enhance students' learning experiences.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, design, education, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in makerspace management, education, or program operations.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in rapid prototyping tools (3D printers, CNC machines, laser cutters) and platforms such as Arduino, Raspberry Pi, and IoT.
Soft Skills: Excellent communication, organizational, and project management abilities.
Other Requirements :
(a) Passion for education and hands-on learning, with the ability to manage dynamic learning environments.
(b) Familiarity with the educational landscape in Bangalore and experience working with school-age children.
